In a tweet, he says, “5,000 home quarantine stampings were carried to ensure they remain home in the public interest. I have received calls that some of those stamped are moving in BMTC buses and sitting in restaurants. Please call 100, these people will be picked up, arrested and sent to government quarantine.”
Bhaskar Rao added that they would also face criminal charges. According to section 269 of the IPC, ‘whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine, or with both.’
Rao said the quarantine seal is in indelible ink and cannot be erased when washed, and is visible for 21 days.
