15 destinations ex-New Delhi, including Bengaluru, in first phase
NEW DELHI:
Indian Railways plans to restart passenger trains from May 12, initially with 15 pairs of trains from New Delhi station to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.
More services will start depending on availability of coaches after reserving 20,000 coaches for COVID-19 care and other coaches needed to operate up to 300 ‘Shramik Specials’ for stranded migrants.
Bookings will start at 4 pm on May 11 only on the IRCTC website (https://www.irctc.co.in/). Ticket booking counters at railway stations will remain closed. Only passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter the railway stations. Face covers and screening at departure are mandatory, and only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to board the trains.
