Bengaluru: In a move that puts fan safety above scorecards, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has stepped forward with a comprehensive AI-driven crowd management proposal for the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
With memories of overcrowding and entry bottlenecks still fresh among Bengaluru cricket fans, RCB has proposed the installation of 300–350 AI-enabled cameras capable of tracking crowd density, monitoring queue discipline, and detecting unauthorised movement — all in real time.
The proposal, sent to the KSCA, highlights the use of advanced AI solutions developed by Staqu, whose technology is already assisting several State Police forces in surveillance and investigations. The system can intelligently monitor crowds, objects, vehicles and stadium perimeters, helping authorities respond faster to potential risks.

Significantly, RCB has volunteered to fully fund the project, pegged at ₹4.5 crore, under its RCB Cares initiative — signalling that the franchise sees fan safety as a shared responsibility, not just an administrative one.
If approved, the initiative could mark a major shift in how large sporting events are managed in Bengaluru, blending technology with accountability.
