BENGALURU:
City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has denied Congress allegations of wrongful arrests following last week’s riots in DJ Halli and KG Halli and the burning down of Pulakeshinagar MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy’s house.
Replying to a media query, Pant said, “We have not arrested any innocents.”

On Wednesday, the police chief did an inspection of the affected areas. Speaking to the media later, he said, “We are not interfering in the investigations, nor there is any pressure on investigating officers. I had come to see the situation in these two police station limits.”
He said, “We are conducting peace meetings and the situation needs to be brought under control. As the case is being investigated, it won’t be appropriate to share information with the media. Further, we have not apprehended any innocents.”
The police are currently investigating some rowdy sheeters for their involvement in the riots.
