Railway Protection Force busted a gang of six , who stole batteries from train coaches
BENGALURU :
A team of the Railway Protection Force of SWR’s Bengaluru Division has busted a gang involved in the theft of batteries from railway coaches stabled at Gollahalli station, Tumkur.
Based on a complaint by the Electrical Branch of SWR’s Bengaluru Division that batteries of AC coaches had gone missing on July 2, the RPF sleuths led by A K Tiwari, IPF/YPR, and R D Samudre, CI/CIB, nabbed 2 members of the gang from Islampur, a third member on July 9 from Gollahalli, and 2 more at Islampur on July 14.
On a tip-off, the team raided a place in the Mavalli area of Lalbagh and recovered 15 batteries worth Rs 2.76 lakh. The 6th member of the gang was also arrested.
SWR General Manager A K Singh congratulated the RPF team for recovering the stolen railway property.
