Sub-registrar was part of scam to fabricate land documents
BENGALURU:
After the khata of encroached government land was cancelled by the High Court, which directed that the land be taken over by the government, a team of revenue officers led by Yelahanka Tahsildar N Raghumurthy has taken possession of the land.
An FIR has been lodged at the Sampigehalli police station naming 7 persons, including a sub-register, for alleged encroachment of the land. The land was within a village of Bytarayanapura constituency of Yelahanka taluk.
According to revenue records, the land was identified as government land, but four landlords allegedly fabricated documents and sold the land to builders from Andhra Pradesh for around Rs 40 crore. A sub-registrar was allegedly part of the scam.
The land records were seized by a team of revenue officers led by Yelahanka Tahsildar N Raghumurthy.
Speaking to the media, Raghumurthy said, “The market value of the land is over Rs. 400 crore. The government has seized it. There are many other similar cases of land grabbing in Yelahanka taluk. If residents of the taluk inform us about government land encroachment in their villages or surrounding areas, the taluk administration will take action to clear the encroachments.”
