Belagavi: With the Karnataka government launching its educational and social survey (caste census), the Sakal Maratha Samaj along with several Maratha community leaders have stepped up awareness drives to ensure that Marathas correctly record their details in the census forms.
On Thursday, youth leader Kiran Jadhav, supported by the Sakal Maratha Samaj, visited Kapileshwar Colony, Shastrinagar, Good Shed Road and surrounding areas to interact with Maratha families. He urged the community to fill in the form in a uniform way by recording:
Religion: Hindu
Caste: Maratha
Sub-caste: Kunbi
Mother tongue: Marathi
Jadhav distributed sample forms and explained the entries in detail, noting that:

Page 5, Index 9 should read Caste: Maratha

Community leaders emphasized the importance of correct documentation, stating that accurate entries will help the Maratha community secure educational reservation, government job quotas, and benefits under welfare schemes.
“This survey is not just a formality — it is about the future of our youth and community representation. Every Maratha family must take it seriously and fill in the details correctly,” said a representative of the Sakal Maratha Samaj.
The initiative by Jadhav and Maratha leaders is part of a statewide campaign to mobilize Maratha families and ensure that the 2025 caste census accurately reflects their identity and strengthens their claim for social justice and reservation benefits.
