BENGALURU:
The former CEO of Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative Bank has committed suicide.
Vasudeva Mayya resorted to the extreme step at his residence in Purnapragnya Layout. He was found in his car with a bottle of alcohol, but it is not known if he had mixed poison with the alcohol, said a police officer.
Vasudeva was one of the prime accused in the alleged Rs 1,400-crore loan scam in the bank, in which two different FIRs were filed by the ACB and the CID. The matter is being heard by the Karnataka High Court.
On June 18, the ACB had raided Vasudeva’s house. He was looking after the bank’s affairs from 2012 to 2018.
