Post attending a function alongside infected journo, Dr. Sudhakar was confident he would test negative
BENGALURU:
Quarantine is no bogeyman for Medical Education Minister Dr. Sudhakar. In fact, as he asserts, “Quarantine has given me more energy to deliver during this hour of crisis.”
Speaking at a presser along with ministers Basavaraj Bommai and C.T.Ravi, Dr.Sudhakar said he was confident he would test negative for the coronavirus after it transpired that a TV journalist who later tested positive was at a function he and other ministers had attended. “The rules should not be different for a minister and the common man,” he said, referring to his voluntary home quarantine.
“It was a good experience. I used to work from the home, attending (virtual) meetings and taking stock of the situation as district in-charge minister,” he said, adding, “The government has provided a good relief package and we are exploring ways of enhancing it.”
He pointed out that easing the lockdown does not mean the virus has gone away. As one will have to live with it, people should take all the necessary precautions and stay safe, he said.
Some ministers had attended a groceries distribution function at Hebbal on April 22, where a TV journalist who later tested positive was present. Dr. Sudhakar noted that as a doctor and having worn a proper mask, he was confident he would test negative for the virus. The minister thanked all those who had wished him during the quarantine period, and requested journalists to be more careful while on duty.
