Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident that underscored the efficiency of Bengaluru’s emergency response system, personnel from the K.G. Halli Police Station rescued a newborn baby found abandoned near a petrol bunk in Lingarajapuram on Sunday morning.
Local residents noticed the infant lying near the Shell Petrol Bunk at around 11:38 am and immediately alerted authorities through the Namma 112 emergency helpline.
Upon receiving the alert, the Namma 112 Command Center promptly dispatched the Hoysala-46 patrol team. ASI N. Nagaraj and HC Gopi, attached to the K.G. Halli Police Station, reached the spot within just seven minutes of the call.
The officers conducted immediate inquiries in the surrounding area to trace the baby’s parents or guardians, but no one came forward. Given the urgency and the infant’s vulnerable condition, the police prioritised medical care and rushed the newborn to a nearby hospital for a thorough health check-up.
After doctors confirmed that the baby was medically stable, the child was formally handed over to the concerned authorities under the jurisdiction of the Banaswadi Police Station.
Police officials said the newborn is currently under professional care and protection, and further procedures are being followed as per child welfare norms.
