Bengaluru: “People are now questioning why Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has developed such a perverse mindset. His actions are worse than the oppressive rule of the British, Tipu Sultan, or the Nizam,” BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra said, escalating the party’s attack on the Congress government over the controversial caste census in Karnataka.
Linking the CM’s policies to deliberate attempts at dividing Hindu society, Vijayendra alleged that Siddaramaiah was sowing “poisonous seeds of caste division” under the pretext of a socio-educational survey.
He further accused the Congress government of:
- Hurting the religious sentiments of millions of devotees of Sri Manjunath Swamy of Dharmasthala.
- Creating unnecessary controversy over the state deity Sri Chamundeshwari.
- Imposing restrictions on Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
- Arresting Hindu activists and leaders in the name of law and order.
Vijayendra warned that the Congress’s “conspiracy” to break Hindu unity would not succeed:
“All Hindus, across caste lines, must stand united. In the caste census, under the religion column, every Hindu must write only ‘Hindu’. This is necessary to protect national unity, integrity, and security,” he urged.
He added that Siddaramaiah had lost the trust of the people, cautioning that future generations would judge him harshly:
“In the future, people will say Karnataka once had a Chief Minister so unfit that he rivalled colonial and feudal rulers in divisive governance,” Vijayendra remarked.
The BJP leader concluded that the Congress should reflect on why Indians have lost faith in them—not because of electoral fraud but because of their “divisive politics and betrayal of Hindu society.”
