BENGALURU:
As the state government is engaged in an uphill struggle trying to put a break on the spread of Covid-19, Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri has the unenviable task of talking a call on the next assembly session.
The last session was in March, and as per the rules another session should be held in the next six months; i.e., by September 23.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Assembly staff on Thursday, Kageri said the safety of ministers, MLAs, officials and media representatives, as well as precautionary measures were discussed.
Apart from making face covers compulsory for legislators, the possibility of an alternative venue has to be kept in mind.
Kageri said that he would hold a meeting with the Law Minister, the Chief Secretary and other senior officials next week to discuss an alternative venue.
