
Teachers getting prepared for SSLC exams in Mangaluru. A Mock drill of SSLC exam was held at Canara School on Wednesday. The examinations will start from 10.30 am on June 25.
BENGALURU:
Notwithstanding objections from parents and opposition political parties, SSLC exams remain on schedule and will be held across Karnataka from Thursday, June 25, till July 4.
Approximately 8,48,203 students are slated to take the exams, of whom 4,48,560 are boys and 3,99,643 are girls.
There are 2,879 examination centres across the state, 330 block testing centres. 57 micro and 4 microscopic centres. Alternative arrangements have been made for students living in containment zones. 67,000 free buses have been arranged for the benefit of students by KSRTC and BMTC. .
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa tweeted and wished students best of luck. “Best wishes to all students attending the statewide SSLC exam tomorrow. In the wake of Corona infection, the government has made all necessary preparations. Students should use masks and sanitizers as a must and maintain social distance. Follow the guidelines set out by the government for testing.”

No gatherings
The SSLC Board has banned gatherings of people closer than 200 metres from the test centres. Public access to the exam centres is restricted.
Students have to arrive at the exam centres one and a half hours before the test begins, will be thermally screened before entry and will have to wear masks. Social distancing will have to be maintained by students and handshakes, hugging, etc., are prohibited. In addition, the windows at the test centres and metal objects like stair railings should not be touched.
Meanwhile, parents and opposition parties continue to oppose the holding of the exams. One particular tweet about the ‘cancellation’ of the exams was trending on social media on Wednesday.
Health onus on govt: HDK
Former CM H D Kumaraswamy has said that the state government should immediately withdraw the decision to conduct the SSLC exams. He said the government will be held accountable if students’ health is compromised, and suggested that the government can hold the exams after October.
