Moudgil says next 50-60 days crucial, stresses sanitary precautions
BENGALURU:
State Covid war room in-charge Munish Moudgil has estimated that the number of coronavirus infections in Karnataka could rise to 25,000 by August 15.

Moudgil’s estimate is based on a projected infection rate of 4 per cent as against the current infection rate of 3 per cent. Although exact figures are not possible, the projection is based on factors like speed of transmission of the virus.
In this context, the next 50-60 days will be crucial, and the general public will need to be extra careful in terms of using masks, observing social distancing and washing hands frequently, noted Moudgil.

Stressing that mistakes made during the earlier lockdown should not be repeated, Moudgil said the primary and secondary contacts of infected persons should be quarantined within 24 hours. Also, 14 days’ quarantine should be compulsory for those coming to Karnataka from other states, and testing should be speeded up.
