HUBBALLI:
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Hubballi Division of the South Western Railway (SWR) has launched a Women Passengers protection initiative called ‘Meri Saheli’ with immediate effect in Trains originating from Hubballi Division.
The initiative is launched as the Train services are being introduced in phased manner and also Special Trains are being run in view of the Festive Season, a SWR statement said here on Thursday.
To begin with, the Women protection initiative service has been launched in Four pairs of Trains in the Division. viz., Hubballi-Vasco Da Gama-Hazrat-Niamuddin- Hubballi-Vasco Da Gama Express Special, Hubballi-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Hubballi Express Special, Hubballi-Vijayawada-Hubballi Express Special and Gadag-Mumbai CSMT-Gadag Express Special, the statement said.

The Press Note further stated that Under the Meri Saheli initiative, Teams consisting of a Lady Sub Inspector and lady constables have been formed at starting stations. Before the start of the trains, the respective Team enters all Passenger coaches including Ladies coaches and identify Lady passengers especially Ladies travelling alone.

The Teams will brief the Lady passengers about the precautions to be taken during their journey and also to contact the Security help line Tel Number 182 in case they face or see any security related issues during the journey. An email ID has also been created for Hubballi Division named mysaheliubl@gmail.com and a mobile Number 7022626987 can also be contacted by them for any security assistance.
The service has been very successful in instilling a sense of security among women travellers and has rendered help to many of them in several instances, the statement added. (Agency)
