Bengaluru: Calling it a historic reform in India’s taxation system, BJP MP and National President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Tejasvi Surya said the decisions taken at the 56th GST Council meeting will directly benefit the poor, middle class, farmers, small traders, MSMEs, and self-employed youth.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office Jagannath Bhavan, Surya noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised a major overhaul of GST during his Independence Day address at the Red Fort. “Yesterday’s GST Council meeting under the leadership of the Union Finance Minister has fulfilled that vision with unanimous support from all states,” he said.
Reforms to Boost Businesses and MSMEs
Surya explained that the reforms aim to make business transactions simpler and easier, cutting down on duplication and compliance hurdles. The changes, he said, would provide significant relief to small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), factories, and traders, thereby strengthening India’s manufacturing sector.
“These reforms will not only help small entrepreneurs and farmers but also open new opportunities for the country’s youth engaged in self-employment and start-ups,” he added.
The press conference was also attended by Bengaluru South District BJP President and MLA C.K. Ramamurthy and Legislative Council Member K.S. Naveen.
