BENGALURU: Tragedy struck during the annual Madduramma temple fair in Anekal, as a devotee lost his life and numerous others were injured when a towering chariot collapsed on them at Huskur. The incident occurred as the procession of over 150 chariots, each standing over 100 feet tall, was underway.
Traditionally, oxen were used to pull the chariots, but modern times have seen the introduction of tractors alongside the animals. This year, the village’s pride was on display with the construction of the tallest chariot yet. Unfortunately, adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, led to the chariot’s downfall.

The history of the Madduramma temple fair spans centuries, making this tragic event all the more devastating. Similar incidents have occurred in the past, such as last year in Heelalige. Today’s accident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by nature’s unpredictability during such grand celebrations.
