Bengaluru: In light of recent social-media posts promoting the slogan “RamalingaReddyForCM”, Karnataka Transport & Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy has issued a clear clarification, stating that there is no vacancy for the Chief Minister’s post and he is not seeking to contest it. Sources at his office say the campaign is entirely unwarranted and misleading.
Speaking on Sunday, Reddy emphasised that the current government is stable and well-led, and his focus remains on delivering public service rather than personal ambition. “If there is respect for me and for the party, please stop this baseless promotional activity at once,” he appealed to party members and supporters.
He asserted that under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the state government is actively engaged in pro-people governance: improving transport systems, upgrading Muzrai services and fulfilling citizen expectations. Reddy called on all party leaders, workers and supporters to join hands, strengthen the party and concentrate on the development agenda for Karnataka, rather than participating in rumours and disruptive propaganda.
His appeal comes amid the backdrop of his long political career — an eight-time MLA from Bengaluru’s BTM Layout, a veteran of over four decades in politics, and a former Transport, Home, and Education Minister.
