BENGALURU/TUMAKURU: Karnataka Congress MLC K N Rajendra has made serious allegations of a murder attempt being made against him. An FIR was registered on Friday against five individuals based on a complaint filed by Karnataka Cooperation Minister K N Rajanna’s son. The complaint alleged that there was an attempt to murder him, according to the police.
The incident in question allegedly took place on November 15, 2024, just a day before K N Rajendra’s daughter’s birthday. The case was registered against five men at Kyathasandra Circle police station in Tumakuru district under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including attempt to murder, house trespass, and criminal conspiracy.
The individuals named in the FIR are Soma, Bharath, Amith, Gunda, and Yathish. It is alleged that these individuals were hired for Rs 70 lakh, with an advance payment of Rs 5 lakh, to carry out the operation.
In the FIR, K N Rajendra claimed that individuals arrived a day before his daughter’s birthday to set up a ‘shamiana’, but their true intention was to assault or murder him as part of a contract. Fortunately, their attempt was unsuccessful, and K N Rajendra only learned about it in January after receiving a voice recording from a source.
The voice recording mentioned two names, Soma and Bharath, discussing a Rs 5 lakh payment made to their account. Following this revelation, K N Rajendra met with Karnataka DGP and IGP Alok Mohan to share information regarding the alleged attempt on his life.
Speaking to press on Thursday, the Congress MLC revealed that he had submitted an audio recording and all relevant information to the Director General. The DG recommended that he should contact the Superintendent of Police in Tumakuru and file a formal complaint regarding the matter.
