Bengaluru: To ensure better civic administration and quick response to citizens, Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Tushar Giri Nath, has directed officials of the newly formed five municipal corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) to give top priority to fixing potholes, installing and maintaining streetlights, and addressing solid waste management.
Speaking at the first consultation meeting held at the IPP Centre in Malleswaram, Nath said the establishment of five corporations under the GBA is aimed at improving urban governance, implementing projects efficiently, and delivering responsive services to citizens. He assured full cooperation and resources for the newly appointed officials.
Civic Issues to Be Addressed on Priority
Officials were instructed to identify local problems in their respective corporations and resolve them within set timelines. “Pothole filling, proper streetlighting, and effective waste management will solve a majority of civic issues,” Nath said, stressing that citizens must see visible improvements.
The Bengaluru Solid Waste Management wing will work in coordination with all five corporations. Nath added that Bengaluru, being a critical city, must be elevated to a higher standard collectively.
He also instructed the clearance of dangerous or dried trees, pruning of branches obstructing streetlights, and the deployment of Home Guards in lakes and parks. Citizens, he said, should witness clear changes after the creation of GBA.
Preparedness for Monsoon
With rains predicted, Girinath directed all corporations to take precautionary measures, including cleaning drains near grating points, ensuring stormwater drains are clear, and preparing disaster management plans.
Property Tax, E-Khata, and Governance
GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao said virtual meetings with Revenue Department officials would continue to streamline property tax collection and e-Khata issuance. He announced that November 1, 2025 has been set as the date for the inauguration of offices for all five corporations, with suitable locations already finalized.
Special Commissioner Munish Moudgil stated that the target for property tax collection this year is ₹6,700 crore, of which ₹3,217 crore has been collected so far. Over 2.75 lakh property owners have been served electronic demand notices, and citizens can now access draft e-Khata documents online, with 7.5 lakh final e-Khatas already distributed.

Micro-Planning for Better Services
Corporations have been directed to prepare micro-plans for pothole filling, road quality improvement, waste collection, black spot clearance, and sanitation drives. Signboards marking corporation boundaries will also be installed to remove confusion among residents.
Citizen-Friendly Tools Introduced
To help residents identify their new corporation, a dedicated website and QR code have been launched: https://BBMP.gov.in/KnowYourNewCorporation. By entering a ward number or name, citizens can check their jurisdiction.
