LUCKNOW:
The Meerut police have arrested a Muslim leader who had announced a Rs 51-lakh reward to anyone beheading Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy’s nephew Naveen, in connection with the recent Bengaluru riots.
Shahjeeb Rizvi, a ‘social activist’ and resident of Rasoolpura village near Meerut, uploaded a video on social networking sites in which he made the ‘offer’. In the video, he asked people to raise money for his ’cause’.

A senior police officer of Meerut said a case has been registered against the accused under IPC sections 153 (a) (incitement of rivalry between two groups) and 505 (2) (incitement to communal conflict).
Rizvi is a former leader of the Samajwadi Party.
