Heavy rains have damaged crops in several districts
BENGALURU:
Heavy rains have added to the Covid-related woes of citizens, with vegetable prices skyrocketing since the last 3 days across the state.
Major damage to crops has been reported from districts such as Raichur, Bidar, Ballari and Kalaburagi. It is unlikely in this backdrop that prices of veggies will decline until next month.
At present, vegetable prices in Bengaluru are: (per kg) peas Rs 227, beans Rs 100, green chilli Rs 40, cucumber Rs 40, ladies’ finger Rs 50, Ooty carrot Rs 94, radish Rs 40, nugget Rs 60, potato Rs 40, tomato Rs 60, beetroot Rs 40, Drumstick Rs 120, fat chillies Rs 60, cabbage Rs 40, eggplant Rs 40 and onion Rs 40.
