Bengaluru, February 21: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President DK Shivakumar has reacted positively to senior leader Satish Jarkiholi’s statement that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge had assured resolution of the leadership confusion in the state.
Speaking to the media near the Karnataka State Higher Education Council, Shivakumar said he was “very happy” to hear about Kharge’s assurance regarding efforts to address internal concerns within the party.
When asked about the Chief Minister’s recent article and social media post, Shivakumar stated that he was not aware of the matter and declined to comment further.
Responding to questions about the Bagalkot unrest, the Deputy Chief Minister said he had just returned to Bengaluru late Friday night after continuous meetings in Assam and was yet to receive a detailed briefing. “I will obtain the necessary information,” he said.
On whether the Congress delegation that visited the affected area would recommend compensation, Shivakumar said officials would submit a report, after which a decision would be taken.
Regarding MLA Dheeraj Muniraju’s statement that he had not sought any funds in connection with solid waste management issues, Shivakumar said he would comment on the matter later.
The response comes hours after Jarkiholi’s remarks about Kharge’s intervention, indicating continued high-level engagement within the Karnataka Congress over recent political developments.
