BJP’s Nagaraj is worth Rs 1,224 crore, Cong’s BK Hariprasad ‘only’ Rs 14 crore

Among the candidates nominated for the Karnataka Legislative Council on Thursday, former minister MTB Nagaraj is the richest with assets worth Rs 1,224 crore.
Senior Congressman BK Hariprasad has assets of Rs 14.62 crore in his and his wife’s names. Among these, he owns a property worth Rs 64 lakh.
In an affidavit filed before the election commission, Hariprasad claimed that he has Rs 20,000 cash in hand, bank deposits of Rs 10.40 lakh, shares worth Rs 3 lakh, debentures worth Rs 9.36 lakh, a Maruti Zen valued at Rs 3.50 lakh and property worth Rs 26.48 lakh.

His wife has Rs 10,000 cash in hand and Rs 6.64 lakh in various banks, deposits worth Rs 31.43 lakh, 700 grams jewellery, a commercial building worth Rs 10.50 crore at RT Nagar spread over 4,000 sq ft, and a 50 per cent stake in an RMV Extension residential housing complex spread over 3,750 sq.ft. Harisprasad has a loan worth Rs 12.47 lakh while his wife has a loan of Rs 2 crore.
Another Congress candidate, Nazeer Ahmed, has declared assets worth Rs 17 crore.
BJP candidate R Shankar has declared property worth Rs 301 crore, Sunil Valapure is worth Rs 20 crore, Pratap Sinha Nayak is worth Rs 2.29 crore and JDS candidate Govindaraju is worth Rs 80 crore.
