BENGALURU:
Wednesday’s Covid stats in Karnataka were 8 deaths and 204 new cases, raising the state’s death count above the ton mark to 102 and the infected tally to 7,734. A saving grace is that 348 discharges on the same day are more than the new infections, reducing active cases to 2,824.
As per the health bulletin, 5 of the fatalities were in Bengaluru Urban while Shivamogga, Bidar and Ballari recorded one death each.
Inter-state returnees accounted for 105 of the day’s infections, and of these 103 had travelled to hotspot Maharashtra.
On Wednesday, Covid cases spiked in Bengaluru Urban, Yadgir, Ballari, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Dakshina Kannada, Dharwad, Mandya, and Hassan.
Among Wednesday’s new cases, Bengaluru Urban had 55, Yadgir 37, Ballari 29, Kalaburagi 19, Bidar 12, Dakshina Kannada and Dharwad 8 each, Mandya 7, Hassan 5, Udupi, Bagalkot and Shivamogga 4 each, Davangere, Uttara Kannda and Chikkaballapur 3 each, and Raichur, Mysuru and Bengaluru Rural 1 each.
Among the patients, 22 have ILI and 19 have SARI symptoms. .
Kalaburagi leads with 442 active cases, Bengaluru Urban has 413, Yadgir 397, Raichur 271, Dakshina Kannada 225 and Ballari 222.
Around 4.64 lakh samples have been tested so far, of which 4.46 lakh have come negative.
Bengaluru Urban has accounted for 43 deaths, followed by Kalaburagi with 10, Bidar 8 and Dakshina Kannada, Vijayapura, and Davanagere 6 each.
