CM says he’s ready to discuss lockdown issues with Cong leaders
BENGALURU:
Nixing the Congress party’s demand for a special assembly session to discuss the prevailing situation in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday said he was prepared to meet the opposition leaders to discuss issues related to the ongoing lockdown.
Speaking to the media, the CM said Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar had sought a meeting on Covid-related issues. He said he had “already announced” measures which the opposition wanted to discuss during the special assembly session proposed by them.
On a diplomatic note, the CM said, “There is nothing like opposition and ruling party here. We have to work together in the interest of the state and come to the rescue of those in distress.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the CM announced a Rs 1,610 crore relief package for the benefit of those in distress due to the Covid-19 induced lockdown.
