BENGALURU:
The number of containment zones in Bengaluru has risen in direct proportion to the spike in coronavirus infections. During the past fortnight, Bengaluru has seen an average of 2,000 cases daily.
Till August 8, the city had a total caseload of 72, 237 positive cases, of which 33, 726 are active cases. In tandem, BBMP has been forced to cordon off a total of 28,042 containment zones, of which 14,391 are active containment zones.
As per BBMP bulletin No 138, the break-up of active containment zones is: 3,232 in Bengaluru South, 2,629 in East, 2,349 in West, 730 in Yelahanka, 2,226 in Bommanahalli, 643 in Dasarahalli, 1,367 in RR Nagar and 1,215 in Mahadevapura.
