Bengaluru: The Indiranagar Police have arrested a 19-year-old scrap seller in connection with a theft reported at the Bengaluru residence of three-time Grammy Award winner and Padma Shri awardee Ricky Kej, bringing a swift breakthrough in the high-profile case.
The accused has been identified as Shivakumar, a resident of Neelasandra, who works as a scrap dealer. He was taken into custody after investigators tracked his movements using CCTV footage collected from the area around the crime scene.
Incident Details
According to police, the theft occurred last Thursday around 6:00 pm when an iron lid kept at the composer’s residence was stolen. The incident was reported soon after, prompting a police investigation.
During questioning, Shivakumar confessed to the crime, admitting that he had stolen the iron lid and later sold it to a local scrap yard for ₹700, police officials said.

The Indiranagar police relied heavily on CCTV surveillance to identify and trace the accused. His movements before and after the theft helped confirm his involvement.
Officials stated that further verification is underway to determine whether the accused may be involved in similar theft cases in the city.
