Bengaluru: Bengaluru will host the 2nd National Cultural Pythian Games 2025 from November 7 to 9 at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium, bringing together a blend of art, culture, and traditional sports in a three-day cultural extravaganza.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Press Club in Bengaluru. The event was addressed by B.H. Anil Kumar (Retd IAS), Chairperson, Lalitha Goyal (Founder Trustee), Bijender Goel (Founder of Modern Pythian Games), organizing secretary Sneha Venkramani, Delchic India Trustee Shivkumar, IAS officer Jog Paul, and social activist Chetan Dasarahalli.
Speaking on the occasion, Bijender Goel said that unlike the Olympics, which focuses only on sports, the Pythian Games revive ancient traditions by combining art, culture, and sport. Competitions will be held across eight major categories, featuring both men and women competing together in teams. A special highlight will be softball cricket, where mixed-gender teams will participate.
“Pythian Games originated in Greece, and in India, the tradition was revived in 2002. Hosting the second national edition in Bengaluru reflects the city’s cultural richness and growing interest in alternative sporting traditions,” said Anil Kumar.
To promote the legacy further, a dedicated Pythian TV channel is being launched to broadcast cultural and sporting events globally.
The games will be inaugurated by Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and entry will be free for the public. Organizers emphasized that the event will not only showcase cultural talent but also contribute to economic activity in Karnataka.
