Bengaluru: A fact-finding committee led by former minister H. M. Revanna on the Ballari banner clash and the death of a Congress worker submitted its report to D. K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President, at a private hotel in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The delegation included MP Kumar Nayak, MLA Raghumurthy, former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, and MLCs Jakkanavar and Basavanagouda Badarli, among others.
Background: Ballari Fact-Finding Visit
The committee was constituted following the violent banner-related clash in Ballari, in which a Congress worker lost his life. Earlier this week, HM Revanna and other panel members visited Ballari, met local leaders and party workers, interacted with residents, and gathered inputs related to the sequence of events, administrative response, and alleged lapses. The panel was tasked with ascertaining the facts leading to the violence and the circumstances surrounding the worker’s death.
Meeting with DCM & KPCC President
After submitting the report, DK Shivakumar briefly reacted, saying he had received the report and would comment only after examining it.
“I have received the report. I will not discuss it now. I will speak after reviewing it,” he said, declining to go into details at this stage.
Details Awaited
Notably, Shivakumar’s office has not shared any specifics of the report so far. Party sources said the findings and recommendations would be discussed internally after due scrutiny. More details are awaited on the committee’s conclusions and the course of action the Congress leadership may take based on the report.
The Ballari incident has remained politically sensitive, with party leaders calling for clarity and accountability. The submission of the fact-finding report is seen as a key step toward an official party response.
