Belagavi: As Karnataka gears up for the caste census survey from September 22, leaders of the Maratha community in Belagavi have intensified awareness campaigns urging community members to record their details accurately in the census forms.
On Wednesday, Maratha youth leader Kiran Jadhav visited the Navhind Co-operative Society and the Maratha Co-operative Bank, where he met with the chairmen and directors to explain how Maratha families should register their information in the caste census.
During the meeting, Maratha Bank Chairman Digambar Pawar, along with the board of directors, appealed to the community to carefully fill out the census forms. He emphasized that religion should be marked as Hindu, caste as Maratha, sub-caste as Kunbi, and language as Marathi to ensure proper representation and future benefits for the community.

Director Renu Killekar also underlined the importance of recording community identity correctly, noting that citizens must provide information to census officers in line with the Maratha leaders’ appeal.
Similarly, Navhind Co-operative Society Chairman Prakash Ashtekar urged respondents to clearly mention Hindu, Maratha, Kunbi, and Marathi in the respective columns during the caste census, stressing that accurate documentation would safeguard the interests of the next generation.
