Bengaluru: In an unusual scene that underscores the frustration over civic neglect, Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao stepped out of his car on Langford Road, Shanthala Nagar, to personally photograph a gaping pothole with his mobile phone. Rao immediately shared the images and video with engineers of the Bengaluru Central Corporation, ordering them to fill the crater without delay.
The inspection team included Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Tushar Giri Nath and Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, who accompanied Rao as he reviewed traffic choke points and road conditions along key corridors.

The neglected Langford Road stretch falls under Bengaluru Central Corporation, headed by Commissioner Rajendra Chollan, and lies within Shantinagar Assembly, represented by Congress MLA N.A. Haris, who is also Chairman of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and a close associate of Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru’s Guardian Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Despite its prime location near MG Road and Brigade Road, the area has been plagued by poor maintenance.

At the Agara Junction flyover, Rao also directed officials to replace a damaged pipe that was causing rainwater to spill onto the road below. The lower portion of the flyover, already in poor condition, must undergo milling and be patched using eco-fix materials.
By taking the extraordinary step of shooting a video himself, Rao sent a clear message that engineers and civic staff cannot afford to ignore Bengaluru’s core infrastructure.
