BENGALURU: Commuters in Rajajinagar witnessed an unexpected and eye-catching scene — MLA and former Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar stepping onto the road as a traffic policeman to teach Bengaluru motorists the importance of following traffic rules.
At the busy Bhavani Shankar Circle, the MLA donned the role of a traffic official to understand ground-level challenges, observe public behaviour at signals, and personally appeal to citizens about road safety.

He was accompanied by Traffic Inspector S. Mohammed Ali, SI Nanjayya, and Head Constables Akram Pasha, Raghavendra and Lokesh, who supported the unique awareness initiative.
“Accidents Drop When Citizens Follow Rules” — MLA Suresh Kumar
Speaking to commuters, Suresh Kumar said the rising number of traffic violation cases clearly shows that people are not taking traffic rules seriously.
He highlighted key safety practices:
- Wear ISI-certified helmets
- Avoid overspeeding
- Do not stop on zebra crossings
- Follow traffic signals responsibly
- Maintain road discipline at all times
“Following rules is not about avoiding fines —
it’s about protecting your life,” he reminded motorists.
The MLA warned that a single accident can leave a person with severe head injuries or lifelong disability, stressing that safety begins with individual responsibility.

Political Leaders Join the Public Outreach
Leaders including Sudarshan, Girish Gowda, Kamadhenu Suresh, Umesh, Sanjay Kumar, Amit Jain, Mohan Raj, and Gopi were also present to support the campaign.
A Lesson in Civic Responsibility
The sight of an elected representative acting as a traffic policeman sparked discussions across the locality. Citizens appreciated the MLA’s hands-on approach to spreading awareness about Bengaluru’s traffic discipline crisis.
