Bengaluru: In a development that sets the stage for a tense showdown, the Bagalur Police have refused to grant permission for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to hold a large-scale protest scheduled for January 5, 2026. The protest, aimed at opposing the Congress government’s alleged appeasement policies, was planned to take place near the Bagalur main road.
The police decision is based on a Karnataka High Court order that restricts all protests in Bengaluru to Freedom Park to prevent inconvenience to the public. The court’s directive explicitly prohibits protests or processions at any other location in the city.
Despite receiving the police notice, BJP Bengaluru North District President S. Harish confirmed that the party intends to proceed as planned. “We will continue with our protest tomorrow as scheduled, despite the police’s refusal,” Harish stated, signaling the party’s resolve to challenge the restriction.

Senior BJP leaders, including State President B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka, and other leaders are expected to attend the rally. The police have warned that any violation of the High Court’s order will lead to legal consequences for the organizers.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on whether the BJP will indeed defy the police directive and how authorities will respond if the protest proceeds.
