Bidar: In Aurad taluk, a wild boar attacked four individuals across different villages in a single day, raising serious concerns among residents. The victims, including a 15-year-old boy, sustained injuries and have been admitted to Beedar district hospital for advanced treatment. Two of the injured are in critical condition.
The attacks occurred in villages such as Allur (B) and Jojana, where victims were assaulted from behind, suffering injuries to the head, ear, back, and chest areas. Rukmini Bai Metre of Allur (B) and Lalamma Kamble of Jojana were among those attacked while working in the fields.
In Jeerga (B) village, Mangala Swamy was attacked while returning home from the fields. Upon hearing her cries, her husband, Sharanayya Swamy, rushed to the scene and chased the wild boar away. Locals also reported that a 15-year-old boy from the same village was attacked and injured.
Following initial first aid, Rukmini Bai Metre has returned home, while the others are undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Authorities suspect the wild boar may be aggressive or rabid, prompting the forest department to issue safety warnings.
The forest department has urged villagers to remain vigilant, travel in groups, and avoid going alone. A special team has been deployed to capture the wild boar, and night patrols are being conducted in the affected areas. M.D. Mudassir Ahmad, Aurad division forest officer, stated that the staff will continue to conduct surveillance tonight to ensure public safety.
