Bengaluru: BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra on Thursday announced that the party will launch statewide tours in preparation for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections. He was addressing the media after the state core committee meeting held at Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru.

Vijayendra said the meeting discussed multiple issues, including preparations for elections to the five Bengaluru corporations under the proposed Greater Bengaluru Authority. “We will form teams under the leadership of core committee members, with each team comprising three to four leaders. Each member will be responsible for one division covering three to four districts. Altogether, the party has divided the state into 10 such divisions,” he explained.

The BJP chief criticized the Congress government, alleging confusion over the caste census issue and failure to act during heavy rains. He said district-level teams have already begun groundwork to highlight local problems and mobilize workers for upcoming polls.

Vijayendra also revealed his plans for tours across northern Karnataka. “Along with Chalavadi Narayanaswamy and other leaders, I will be touring Raichur and Kalaburagi districts on the 3rd and 4th of next month. We will also cover Vijayapura and other districts,” he announced.

On Congress’ internal dynamics, Vijayendra pointed to long-standing tensions between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar. “You saw Siddaramaiah’s show of strength in Mysuru and how Shivakumar rushed to Delhi from the same stage. The Congress remains deeply divided, and it remains to be seen how this will unfold in the coming days,” he said.
