Bengaluru: A bomb threat email sent to the Passport Seva Kendra in Koramangala caused brief panic on Tuesday morning, prompting an immediate security response. Police later confirmed that the threat was a hoax, with no explosive or suspicious materials found on the premises.
According to officials, the threatening message was received on the office’s official email ID, warning of a bomb blast at the passport office. Upon receiving the alert, authorities swiftly informed the Koramangala Police, who rushed to the spot and initiated precautionary measures.
Police deployed sniffer dogs and a bomb disposal squad, thoroughly inspecting both the interior and exterior of the building. After an extensive search, officials confirmed that no explosives or suspicious objects were detected.
Following the clearance operation, police declared the threat false, assuring the public that there was no danger. However, a case has been registered, and investigations are underway to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender behind the hoax threat.
Police officials said strict action would be taken against those responsible for creating panic through false bomb threats, stressing that such acts are treated as serious offences under the law.
