BENGALURU: The ongoing construction of the Metro and flyover ramps at Hebbal is leading to significant frustration among commuters, who are grappling with severe traffic congestion. The KR Pura-Mehkri Circle ramp project, which commenced a year ago, is progressing at a disappointingly slow pace.
Despite Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s directive to expedite the work for completion by the end of April, with plans to open it to the public in May, the project remains far from finished. During his city tour in February, he expressed optimism about the timeline, but current developments suggest otherwise.
According to the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), the flyover construction is approximately 70% complete, with grader work having commenced in the past three days. However, officials estimate that an additional 2 to 3 months will be required to finalize the project.
As a result, commuters are enduring lengthy traffic jams that stretch for kilometers. Unfortunately, it appears that they will have to cope with these delays for several more months. The BDA initiated the widening of the flyover ramp last year, but progress has been sluggish, and the anticipated completion date continues to slip further away.
