Bengaluru: In yet another rain-related incident, a huge tree was uprooted and fell across the road near Navarang Circle in Bengaluru late Friday night, following heavy downpour across the city.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m., when the large tree—believed to be weakened by continuous rain—came crashing down, spreading across both sides of the road. According to eyewitnesses, the tree fell suddenly, causing damage to two cars and three motorcycles parked nearby. Minor injuries to the car occupants have been reported.

Soon after the incident, Malleshwaram Traffic Police rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection, and coordinated with GBAemergency response teams to begin the clearance operation. The fallen tree led to a temporary traffic blockade in the area until civic workers arrived with cranes and saws to remove the debris.
Local residents stated that the tree had been visibly dry and unstable for several weeks, but no preventive measures were taken by civic authorities despite repeated warnings. They expressed concern that the recurring pattern of tree collapses during rains poses a serious safety risk for pedestrians and motorists alike.

“We heard a loud cracking sound around 2 a.m. and rushed outside. The tree had fallen across the road, crushing an Omni car and damaging nearby bikes. Thankfully, no major injuries occurred,” an eyewitness told reporters.
City officials have since been urged to conduct immediate inspections of aged and weakened trees across Bengaluru, especially in rain-prone zones such as Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar, and Navarang Circle, to prevent potential accidents.
