BENGALURU/KOPPAL: Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi’s recent visit to an Anganwadi in JP Nagar, Karatagi, Koppal district has sparked controversy after a video of him struggling to write “Shubavagali” in Kannada went viral. The Minister’s difficulty in writing the word has led to criticism and questions about his linguistic abilities.
During his visit, Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi attempted to write “Shubavagali” for the Anganwadi children, but faced challenges in getting the spelling right. He initially wrote “Shabha” instead of “Shubha,” and used a small “B” for “Bha.” This mistake, along with the time he took to write a single word, has drawn significant backlash from the public.
The video of the Minister’s struggle has been widely shared on social media, with many questioning his proficiency in Kannada. The incident has raised concerns about the importance of linguistic knowledge among Kannadigas, especially those in positions of authority.
The term “Shubavagali” translates to “Good Luck” in English.
