District heads, cops and education officials to monitor the situation in schools: Bommai
HUBBALI/BENGALURU:
“High schools are being reopened from tomorrow, and I am confident that classes will be held peacefully,” Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said in Hubballi on Sunday.
Speaking to media persons, he said that with high schools reopening, DCs, SPs and officials of the Education Department have been instructed to work in coordination and visit the schools to create harmonious conditions for study. A decision on reopening PU classes will be taken after reviewing the situation, he added.
A lot of misinformation is being spread on the hijab issue in the social media, and the police are monitoring this development. Normalcy should be restored in schools and colleges, the CM said, and stressed that the present priority is to create a conducive atmosphere for students to pursue their studies.
‘Development-focused budget’
Replying to a question about the upcoming state budget, the Chief Minister said, “The thinking is on all-round development of Karnataka. The economy has suffered two consecutive setbacks. It has been showing signs of stability in the last 4-5 months. Revenue collection too is recovering. The budget will be prepared with financial discipline, keeping in mind overall economic development and public welfare.”
“We want to give a boost to the economy. Greater priority will be placed on the welfare of the poor,” he said.
