Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar launched a sharp counterattack on JDS leader H.D. Kumaraswamy, calling him an “empty trunk” for making baseless allegations about the ongoing A Khata property conversion drive in Bengaluru.
Speaking during the Bengaluru Walk Programme at Cubbon Park on Sunday, Shivakumar said the government’s decision to convert B Khata properties into A Khata is aimed at giving citizens legitimate ownership and financial access — not political mileage.
“Educated citizens supporting this reform is encouraging,” says DCM
During the citizen interaction, a participant appreciated the government’s move, calling it a “long-awaited step that brings hope to thousands waiting for property regularisation.”
Responding to the praise, Shivakumar said:
“A Khata is your property’s legal identity. Our government has taken this up as its sixth guarantee to ensure ownership rights for every citizen. We are asking for only 5% of the guidance value as development fees. I’m thankful that conscious and educated citizens like you are welcoming this initiative.”
He accused opposition leaders of misleading the public for political gain and added that “citizens understand the difference between reforms and rhetoric.”
