Bengaluru: Bengaluru District Election Officer and Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to ensure that the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls 2025 is carried out error-free, transparent, and strictly as per the Election Commission of India’s guidelines.
Chairing a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties at the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Head Office, Rao emphasized that the revision work is underway across 8,972 polling stations in Bengaluru district. He said, “All complaints related to electoral rolls must be addressed immediately. Political parties should be provided with requested information without delay to ensure confidence in the process.”
Work on Holidays, Booth-Level Monitoring
Rao instructed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to carry out revision-related duties even on holidays, stressing that no lapses will be tolerated. Political parties were urged to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and actively participate in the meetings convened by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) in their respective Assembly constituencies.
Awareness Drives and Transparency Measures
Special Commissioner (Election) Preeti Gehlot gave a detailed presentation covering constitutional provisions, legislative frameworks, past intensive revisions, and the scope of the ongoing Special Summary Revision. She explained the enumeration methodology, required documents, and declaration forms necessary for submission.
To boost voter awareness, officials will conduct special voter awareness camps, prepare short films and posters, and share content widely on social media platforms. Review meetings will be held every 15 days to assess progress and ensure seamless execution.
Next Steps
Rao made it clear that meticulous supervision will continue at the level of Additional District Election Officers and EROs. He reiterated that “flawless execution is essential to uphold democratic integrity and ensure that no eligible voter is left out.”
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Dr. B. Sharanappa, representatives of various political parties, and senior officials from the district election team.
