Bengaluru / Mysuru: Dozens of passengers had a miraculous escape in the early hours of Friday after a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus caught fire near Nanjangud, on the outskirts of Mysuru.
The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m., when the bus was travelling from Bengaluru to Kozhikode. According to officials, the fire originated from the front portion of the bus, following which smoke and sparks were noticed by the driver.
Displaying exceptional presence of mind, the driver immediately pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and alerted the crew. A swift emergency evacuation was carried out, ensuring all passengers exited the bus safely just moments before the flames engulfed the entire vehicle.
While no injuries or loss of life were reported, several passengers were unable to retrieve their belongings in time. Many bags and personal items were completely gutted in the blaze.
Fire and police personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames. Preliminary investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire. KSRTC officials said further technical inspection of the vehicle will be conducted.
