BENGALURU:
After being released on conditional bail in a POCSO case, Murughashree, who had spent 14 months in prison, has now taken back control of the mutt.
Previously, the state government had appointed retired IAS officer Vastrad as the administrator to oversee the management of Muruga Math while Murughashree was in jail. However, the appointment was challenged by the Math’s lawyer, leading to the high court overturning the decision.
During Murughashree’s incarceration, temporary authority was given to the Principal District and Sessions Judge to manage the Math. But with Murughashree’s release on bail on November 16, the High Court instructed the Principal District and Sessions Judge of Chitradurga to hand over the authority back to him.
The judge complied with the court’s order, returning the administration of the Math to Murughashree.
The Muruga Mutt issued a press statement confirming this development.
Additionally, sources from the Math reveal that Murughashree will not enter the Chitradurga district and will manage the Math from outside the area, as per the conditions of his bail.
