He said cultivating national pride among students is the need of the hour.
The 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, observed as Physical Education Day, was celebrated on Friday, January 23, at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Lele Ground in Tilakwadi. The event was organised by Nemavva Kudachi High School, Majgaon, in association with the Tilakwadi Secondary Section Physical Education Teachers’ Association.
Belagavi Mayor Mangesh Pawar, former Deputy Mayor Anand Chavan, and other dignitaries attended the programme. The event was presided over by J.U. Ghadi, Secretary of the Modern Education Society, Belagavi. Several educationists, physical education officers, social workers, principals, retired teachers, and sports instructors were also present.
The programme began with flag hoisting, followed by an impressive march-past by 23 secondary school students from the Tilakwadi division, who paid salute to the dignitaries. Students also presented physical drills, showcasing discipline and coordination.
During the event, retired physical education teacher Devkumar Manganakar was felicitated for his service, while organisers also honoured the invited guests with shawls and bouquets. Mayor Mangesh Pawar and former Deputy Mayor Anand Chavan addressed the gathering, underlining the importance of physical education and character building.
The programme was compered by Prakash Pawar, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Padmaraj Bastawad.
