BENGALURU: A pillion rider died on the spot; the bike rider escaped after a milk tanker knocked down a two-wheeler in front of the Tata Institute.
The victim has been identified as Harsha, who was a pillion rider and injured Sachin, who was riding the bike. They were heading to work at a jewellery shop on New BEL Road. They were residents of Srirampura. The milk tanker with registration number KA 53 X 5082 collided with the bike.
It was suspected that the tanker driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. The tanker was heading from Bengaluru Dairy to Nelamangala. The Sadashivanagar traffic police inspected the incident site.

Harsha died on the spot, and his body was sent to Ramaiah Hospital for post-mortem. Sachin was admitted to a private hospital and is undergoing treatment.
A local individual said that Harsha had written the SSLC examination recently and was waiting for the result. One of his friends called him for pamphlet distribution work, as they would pay Rs 1000 for that task. Harsha went on his friend’s bike on the day. He usually uses the bus to travel, but yesterday he went with a friend on bike”.
He also alleged that the tanker driver was drunk and ran over pillion rider.
