BENGALURU:
Even in the midst of the pandemic challenge, Karnataka’s GDP is growing steadily and could touch Rs 35-lakh crore in the next five years, according to Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan.
He was speaking at ‘Feature Karnataka Summit-2020’, organized by SpareTravel Media and Exhibition on Sunday.
The government has taken various measures to strengthen agriculture, IT-BT, industry and the service sector. The DCM said the government would build an industrial corridor between Mysuru and Bidar, on the lines of the Bengaluru-Chennai and Bengaluru-Mumbai corridors.
He said the government had taken industry-friendly steps like amendments to land reform, APMC and labour-related laws.
Gujarat and Rajasthan have a single-window system only for small industries, but Karnataka has extended this facility to big industry too, he noted.
‘Covid in control’
Noting that 30% of the Covid beds for government-referred patients are vacant, the DCM suggested that the infection was ‘under control’.
Prashanth Prakash, president, Start-up Vision group, Anil Shetty and Keerthi Narayana were present.
