54 new cases, Karnataka tally 1,147

Udupi reported the 37th Covid-19 fatality in Karnataka as a 54-year-old died while being treated at a hospital. Meanwhile, the state’s infected count has gone up to 1,147.
The bulletin released by state health and welfare department reads: “P-1093, 54-year-male resident of Udupi with cardiac issues was admitted in private hospital in Udupi district and died due to cardiac arrest on 14.05.2020. Tested positive for COVID-19 on 16.05.2020.”
The bulletin also put the highest number of positive cases from Mandya district with 22, while Kalaburagi reported10, Hassan 6, Dharwad 4, Yadgir and Kolar 3 each, Dakshina Kannada and Shivamogga 2 each, and Udupi and Vijayapura one each.
“40 of these are those with inter-state travel history from neighbouring Maharashtra, mostly from Mumbai, and eight are contacts of patients already tested positive,” the bulletin said.
