Helicopter ferrying Congress team back to Bengaluru makes emergency landing at Nelamangala in rough weather

Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar and other Congress functionaries had a close shave when the helicopter ferrying them back to Bengaluru from Davanagere made an emergency landing near T Begur in Nelamangala on Friday. The helicopter was not given permission to land at HAL airport in the city due to the inclement weather.
Apart from Shivakumar, the chopper was carrying KPCC working presidents Ishwar Khandre and Saleem Ahmed, and Congress MLC UB Venkatesh. The Congress team later drove back to the city for a meeting with Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala. KPCC working president B Ramalinga Reddy and former ministers RV Deshpande and HK Patil also attended the meeting.
Vaccination drive
The Congress functionaries had flown to Davanagere to participate in a vaccination drive organized by Congress leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa. Shivakumar inaugurated the drive and also got the second dose of the vaccine.
During their meeting with Governor Vala, the Congress leaders conveyed their protest against the Centre’s vaccination policy and demanded free vaccination for all citizens. In this regard, they submitted a memorandum addressed to President Ram Nath Kovind.
